About The Role
Join Uber's Cloud & Platform team as a Senior Software Engineer, Backend. We are dedicated to building tools that empower Uber engineers to consume cloud resources efficiently, securely, and comfortably. Our mission is to deliver a simple yet powerful self-service experience to Uber engineers, ensuring transparency and governance for cross-cutting concerns like security and cost management.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate and Communicate: Work closely with both technical and non-technical teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
- Software Design and Implementation: Create robust software designs that span backend and infrastructure automation. Implement high-quality features using Go, Terraform, and TypeScript.
- Codebase Improvement: Continuously enhance the codebase for scalability and maintainability.
- Incident Management: Be on-call to resolve production incidents and drive post-mortems.
- Mentorship: Mentor and train junior developers, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
What You'll Need
- Experience: 5+ years in Software Engineering with Go and JavaScript, 3+ years with Docker, containerization, microservices, or Kubernetes, and 1+ year of GCP experience.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (VLANs, firewalls, OSI model) and security fundamentals, including principles of least privilege.
- Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead long-term, multi-functional projects.
Bonus Points
- UI Development Experience: Experience in UI development is a plus.
- Secure Coding: Comfortable with secure coding practices and proper handling of infrastructure security.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Leadership: Lead multiple high-impact cross-functional projects from conception to completion.
- Architectural Design: Provide insights into new technologies and work with the team to make architectural design decisions.
- Feature Implementation: Implement new features while prioritizing security, user experience, modern design, high availability, and scalability.
