Job Summary
Join Textron as a Software Engineer Intern in the Simulator Systems department, where you will gain a technical foundation, acquire leadership skills, and gain project management experience. This internship will provide you with cross-functional process knowledge and the opportunity to assist with the development, auditing, and documentation of key processes and workflows.
Job Responsibilities
- Design, develop, integrate, test, and document flight simulator software: Work closely with engineers of varying disciplines to meet project requirements.
- Participate in engineering design reviews: Provide input and feedback during design phases.
- Perform hardware/software integration & testing: Ensure the functionality of flight simulator training devices.
- Provide engineering staff with recommendations: Suggest software/hardware enhancements based on your findings.
- Work on impactful projects: Engage in projects that have a measurable impact on the business.
- Research and analyze data: Evaluate customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine the feasibility of design or application.
Qualifications
- Education: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, professional demeanor, strong sense of accountability and integrity, and strong problem-solving skills.
- Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S. for Textron Aviation at the time of application. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Internship Details
- Duration: Summer internships are 40 hours per week, typically from late-May to early-August, lasting 10 weeks.
- Location: Candidates must be able to work onsite in Lutz, Florida, for the entirety of the internship program unless approved otherwise by the hiring manager.
- Compliance: Textron Aviation Inc. must comply with U.S. export control laws. If a position requires access to information controlled under U.S. regulations, the applicant must be eligible to meet any requirements to access controlled information.
