About the Role

Join Navico Group, a division of Brunswick Corporation, as a Software Engineering Intern. This role is based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and focuses on supporting the development of Navico Group’s Trolling Motors, primarily associated with the Lowrance and Simrad brands. As an intern, you will report to the software engineering lead and contribute to the software development of trolling motors. Your responsibilities will include supporting concept and design development, prototype development, product testing, and analyzing performance data.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the software development of Navico Group’s trolling motors.
• Engage in concept and design development, including prototype development and product testing.
• Analyze performance data and fix bugs/issues reported through Jira on existing products.
• Contribute to improvements in development processes and software architectures.
• Work across various modules within the Navico Software stack with guidance from senior developers.

Internship Projects

• Support sustaining software build releases for existing products.
• Learn CAN bus and N2K communication.
• Develop algorithms in C++ and learn messaging across a network between devices on a boat.
• Understand positioning using vector mathematics.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• An engineering student with at least 80 credits towards a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
• Strong C/C++ development and debugging skills.
• Embedded development experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Jira, Figma, Github, and Python.
• Android, Kotlin, and Java experience is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of electronic measurement equipment, such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
• Ability to coordinate numerous projects professionally and ethically.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Boating, fishing, and/or marine industry experience is beneficial but not required.
• Good interpersonal skills.

Commitment

This internship requires a full-time commitment from May to August, with potential for part-time work during the school semesters.
