Role Overview
The National Basketball Association (NBA) is seeking a Graduate Technology & Data Intern for the 2025 Summer Internship Program. This 10-week program, running from June 9 to August 15, 2025, offers participants the opportunity to engage in meaningful projects across various departments within the NBA and its affiliate leagues, including the WNBA, G League, and NBA 2K League.
Program Experience
Interns will gain hands-on experience in software development and data science projects. Responsibilities may include:
- Collaborating on digital products to enhance fan experience.
- Writing TypeScript/JavaScript code for NBA products across HTML5 powered devices.
- Performing quantitative analyses related to on-court activities and trends.
- Designing statistical analysis and visualizations for league structure and game play improvements.
- Coordinating with data engineers and analysts on model development and deployment.
- Creating and maintaining user interfaces and optimizing site performance.
- Identifying and resolving technical issues across NBA products.
- Integrating data from various sources into the website using APIs.
Required Education & Professional Experience
- Enrolled in a graduate degree program in Technology or Data Science fields such as Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or Engineering.
Preferred Skills & Knowledge
- Solid understanding of technology and software development.
- Experience in analytical projects and system design.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and scripting languages like Python or R.
- Exposure to relational databases and SQL.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to propose creative solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
