About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our remote-first team at Grafana Labs. This position is open to candidates located in the US and Canada. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be a key player in developing our Kubernetes monitoring product and contributing to our open-source projects. You will collaborate with Product, UX, and Frontend engineers to create seamless user experiences.
Responsibilities
- Work on the Kubernetes monitoring product and contribute to open-source projects.
- Collaborate with Product, UX, and Frontend teams to turn designs into user-friendly experiences.
- Influence the product roadmap and your own career objectives.
- Drive projects from ideation to production, ensuring they reach customers effectively.
- Embrace our open-source culture and contribute to projects beyond your team's scope.
- Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and availability.
- Participate in support rotations and take ownership of the services you manage.
- Mentor and support team members, engage in design discussions, and collaborate effectively.
- Interact with customers to champion our product and iterate based on feedback.
Requirements
- Comfortable working in a remote-first company; excellent communication skills are essential.
- At least a couple of years of experience as a Backend developer.
- Strong understanding of user-centered software development processes.
- Ability to transform ideas into working code, design solutions, and write prototypes.
- Experience with Kubernetes is a must; familiarity with Linux and Prometheus is advantageous.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting modern web application issues and using profilers, debuggers, bundlers, and testing libraries.
