Join Medium as a Senior Backend Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to play a pivotal role in building the backend systems that power both Medium’s website and its mobile applications.
What You Will Do
- Own Technical Strategy: You will own the technical strategy for broad or complex requirements with insightful and forward-looking approaches that go beyond the direct team and solve large open-ended problems.
- Feature Ownership: Actively own features or systems and define their long-term health, while also improving the health of surrounding systems.
- Quality Assurance: Develop and implement tests for ensuring the quality, performance, and scalability of our application.
- Mentorship: Mentor other engineers and participate in code reviews, lightning talks, and other engineering-department activities.
- Standards and Culture: Contribute to engineering standards, tooling, processes, and culture.
- Production Support: Assist in triaging and resolving production issues.
Who You Are
- Experience: You have 5+ years of experience in backend development.
- Technical Skills: You have strong generalist backend knowledge, including databases, services, performance, profiling, and caching.
- Golang and Kubernetes: You have solid experience with Golang and Kubernetes.
- Communication: You are a strong communicator who can articulate complex ideas clearly.
