Senior Software Engineer - Generative AI, AGI Inference Engine

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Designing, developing, testing, and deploying high-performance inference capabilities, including multi-modality, state-of-the-art model architectures, latency, throughput, and cost.
• Collaborating closely with a team of engineers and scientists to influence our overall strategy and define the team’s roadmap.
• Driving system architecture, spearheading best practices, and mentoring junior engineers.

A Day in the Life

• Reading papers and consulting with scientists to get inspiration from emerging techniques and integrating them into our roadmap.
• Designing and experimenting with new algorithms, benchmarking the latency and accuracy of your implementations.
• Implementing production-grade solutions and overseeing their deployment.
• Collaborating with other science and engineering teams to ensure proper execution.
• Maintaining the highest standards in operational excellence and supporting production systems.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
• 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
• Prior experience with software performance optimization or knowledge of Machine Learning and Deep Learning.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Experience with Large Language Model inference.
• Experience with Trainium and Inferentia Development.
• Experience with GPU programming (TensorRT-LLM).
• Experience with Python, PyTorch, and C++ programming and performance optimization.

Compensation

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
