Job Overview
Waymo, a leader in autonomous driving technology, is seeking a Software Engineer for its Commercialization Engineering team. This team is responsible for building the next generation of infrastructure for driverless cars, tackling real-world challenges such as demand planning, pickup/dropoff optimization, fleet optimization, and field escalation handling. This role requires cross-team collaboration, both technically and functionally, to develop and deliver business-critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and Evolve Tools: Help build and evolve mission-critical commercialization tools and systems.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work with Product, UX, and other engineering teams to develop systems as needs grow and evolve.
- Solve Real-World Problems: Address challenges such as Fleet Event Response, Fleet Monitoring, and Field Escalation Handling.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience: 4+ years of backend experience in Java, Python, GO, C++, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Google Infrastructure: Familiarity with Google infrastructure (e.g., Flume, Borg, Protocol Buffers).
- Front-End Experience: 2+ years of experience in JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS, or equivalent.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary Range: $185,000—$200,000 USD annually.
- Additional Benefits: Waymo employees are eligible for a discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and a generous company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role, allowing for a combination of on-site and off-site work. You will report to a Software Engineering Manager.
