Internship Opportunity: AI Engineer - Export & Inference
What To Expect
This internship position at Tesla is expected to start in January and continue through April/May. It is an in-person role based in Palo Alto, CA, requiring 40 hours a week for a minimum of 12 weeks. International students should consult their school regarding work authorization through CPT before applying.
About The Team
The team focuses on productionalizing machine learning models, training, and deploying large neural networks for efficient inference on compute-constrained edge devices. This role is multi-disciplinary, involving work at the intersection of machine learning and systems. You will build ML frameworks and infrastructure to enable seamless training, deployment, and inference of neural networks for Tesla's Autopilot and Optimus projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop robust AI frameworks to deploy neural networks on edge devices.
- Build AI infrastructure for training and fine-tuning networks on large GPU clusters.
- Deploy state-of-the-art neural networks on heterogeneous compute, including Tesla’s in-house AI ASIC, aiming to maximize performance while minimizing latency.
- Collaborate with AI scientists and compiler engineers to compress large models for low precision execution.
- Design and implement custom GPU kernels (CUDA/OpenCL) for efficient training and post-processing.
Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with a graduation date between 2025 - 2026.
- Ability to relocate and work on-site in Palo Alto, CA.
- Proficiency with Python, C/C++ is a plus.
- Experience with PyTorch or another machine learning framework.
- Experience in training and deploying neural networks for real-world AI applications.
- Knowledge of computer systems and architecture.
- Experience with CUDA is beneficial.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary range: €100,000 - €150,000, depending on level and experience.
