Internship Opportunity: Data Analyst/Data Engineer - Energy
What To Expect
This internship position at Tesla is expected to start in January 2025 and continue through the entire Spring term, with the possibility of extending into Summer 2025. We require a minimum commitment of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site in Palo Alto, CA.
Key Responsibilities
Interns may be placed in one of several teams within the Energy department:
Energy | Asset Management
- Prepare data for analytical and operational uses across all energy products.
- Build and maintain data pipelines to consolidate data from different systems.
- Deploy data pipelines for analytics in a robust, efficient, and scalable framework.
- Automate reporting and data quality checks.
Energy | Service Transformation & Analytics
- Analyze technical data and provide recommendations.
- Perform advanced SQL queries on massive datasets.
- Create and maintain analytics dashboards using tools like Tableau and Power BI.
- Use Git and Jira for workflow tracking.
Energy | Service Engineering Data Analytics and Infrastructure
- Leverage data from the Energy fleet to ensure the best customer experience.
- Optimize and undertake advanced SQL queries.
- Create and maintain data ELT pipelines using Airflow.
Energy | Product Engineer
- Monitor product performance and root cause analysis for design, process, or firmware failures.
- Work with cross-functional teams to define and track product KPIs.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and Python.
- Experience building data pipelines using Airflow.
- Working knowledge of Spark and big data processing.
- Experience with Git or other source control software.
- Scala experience is a plus.

Compensation
- Expected hourly rate: $20.00 - $50.00, depending on level and experience.
