Join Polarstern as a Full-Stack Developer

Polarstern is seeking a passionate Full-Stack Developer to join our Dev team, the heart of our company, in Munich. We are looking for a team player who is eager to work on a project that is crucial for our generation—the energy transition.

Your Responsibilities

• Design Scalable Backend Solutions: Develop modern serverless functions using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Develop REST APIs: Create performant REST APIs based on OpenAPI specifications and ensure seamless integration.
• Optimize CI/CD Pipelines: Enhance existing CI/CD pipelines for smooth and fast deployments.
• Support Frontend Development: Occasionally handle tickets for developing Single Page Applications (SPA) using existing REST APIs and support the frontend team with your expertise.
• Cloud Infrastructure Development: Work on the development of our cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) in the Azure Cloud.
• Software Architecture: Collaborate with the team to advance our cloud, system, and software architecture, with a focus on backend development.
• Ensure Code Quality: Maintain high code quality through automated code analysis, tests, and code reviews.
• Promote Knowledge Transfer: Actively support and mentor other team members in backend development.

What You Bring

• Educational Background: Training in computer science or a related field.
• Professional Experience: Several years of experience in backend development, ideally with a focus on Node.js (TypeScript) and scalable, high-performance APIs.
• Database and API Design: Experience with SQL databases and API design and implementation.
• Cloud Technologies: Good knowledge of cloud technologies, especially Azure, and/or experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform).
• Development Tools: Proficiency with development tools like Git, npm, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Frontend Knowledge: Experience with Vue.js/Nuxt is a plus for full-stack development.
• Code Quality: High standards for clean, maintainable code and attention to technical details.
• Agile Mindset: Agile working style and a solution-oriented mindset, valued for your hands-on mentality.
