Job Description
Amazon is seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to join our team in Seattle, Washington. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a new AI-first initiative aimed at re-architecting and reinventing Amazon's search capabilities using next-generation deep learning techniques. Our goal is to make significant improvements in the application of advanced Machine Learning (ML) on very large-scale datasets, leveraging aggressive systems engineering and hardware accelerators.
Key Responsibilities
- Train large deep learning models with hundreds of billions of parameters.
- Build foundational ML models applicable to various Amazon business applications, such as Search and Ads.
- Focus on efficient model architecture, training and data optimization/scaling, and model/data/pipeline parallel techniques.
Basic Qualifications
- Master's degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python, or a related language.
- Experience in algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, and high-performance computing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience implementing algorithms using both toolkits and self-developed code.
- Publications in top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
- Experience with large language models and domain knowledge in Search and Ads systems.

Compensation
The base pay for this position ranges from $129,400/year to $212,800/year, depending on market location and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon offers a total compensation package, which may include equity, sign-on payments, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
