Join Amazon as an Applied Scientist in Customer Targeting
Are you passionate about leveraging data to deliver actionable insights that impact daily marketing activities at Amazon? The Customer Targeting team at Amazon is seeking an Applied Scientist to join our team to develop models for optimizing the performance of Amazon’s marketing initiatives across channels and advertising formats.
Key Responsibilities
- Leverage Statistics and Optimization: Use your knowledge of statistics and optimization to frame decision-making problems for determining marketing spends across channels.
- Predictive Modeling: Predict future customer behavior and business conditions through machine learning and predictive modeling.
- Model Development: Use analytical and predictive techniques to build models for optimizing targeting.
- Data Presentation: Present proposals and results in a clear manner backed by data and coupled with actionable conclusions.
Basic Qualifications
- Master's degree in engineering, technology, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics, mathematics, or equivalent quantitative field.
- Experience building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business applications.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java, or Perl.
- 2-7 years of experience in deep learning, machine learning, and data science.
- Proficiency in coding and software development, with a strong focus on machine learning frameworks.
- Understanding of relevant statistical measures such as confidence intervals, significance of error measurements, development and evaluation data sets, etc.
- Excellent communication skills (written & spoken) and ability to collaborate effectively in a distributed, cross-functional team setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning, or equivalent quantitative field.
- Track record of diving into data to discover hidden patterns and conducting error/deviation analysis.
- Ability to develop experimental and analytic plans for data modeling processes, use of strong baselines, ability to accurately determine cause and effect relations.
- Exceptional level of organization and strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, dynamic work environment.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
