About the Role
We are seeking a thoughtful, self-driven Senior Back-End Engineer to join our distributed team at MERO. This role is pivotal in building products that our users rely on monthly to book beauty services. As a Senior Back-End Engineer, you will have the opportunity to evolve into a tech or VP engineering role while remaining highly hands-on with development.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a small, motivated team of developers and product people to find the best solutions to drive growth and engagement.
- Develop MERO systems and apps using best practices, ensuring code is scalable and maintainable.
- Design, develop, and deploy backend services with a focus on high availability, low latency, and scalability.
- Assist teammates in solving user-centric problems using data-informed insights.
- Improve the performance of existing features and build new features to support and accelerate growth.
- Foster an engineering culture based on knowledge sharing, cooperation, and ego-less decision-making.
Who You Are
- You have a deep understanding and experience using modern development environments and tools, particularly in back-end development.
- You are fluent in writing and optimizing Node.js, using TypeScript, and operating/migrating large data structures in NoSQL databases.
- You care about quality, maintainability, and scalability in every deliverable.
- You are a "no-ego" doer, action-oriented, and do not attach your personal self to ideas.
- You are self-driven, with higher expectations of yourself than MERO does of you.
- You aim for clarity in communication and actively listen to understand others.

Note: This position is remote but requires candidates to be based in Romania and comfortable with occasional front-end work if needed.
