As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Core Platform team, you will play a crucial role in building and maintaining the backend systems that power Reddit. Role Responsibilities
- Develop and design innovative solutions to scale Reddit's backend infrastructure.
- Build platform API projects that scale to the rest of the organization.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers to achieve our mission.
- Ensure high uptime and performance of the systems.
Challenges
- Define and maintain core data models.
- Design architecture that is performant, stable, secure, and cost-effective.
- Handle millions of requests per second for tens of millions of users daily.
Candidate Profile
- Multiple years of experience in systems programming with languages like Go, Python, Rust, C, C++, or Java.
- Proven track record of building and operating large-scale, mission-critical distributed systems.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical issues.
- Familiarity with service architectures and building API platforms.
