Job Overview
Reddit is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Data Infrastructure team in Seattle. This role is pivotal in managing and enhancing the data tools that support Reddit's expansive data warehouse and infrastructure, which is crucial for our data-driven decision making.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain data infrastructure: Build and maintain the infrastructure necessary for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and big data technologies.
- Enhance data quality and system performance: Implement systems to monitor data quality and ensure consistent system performance across all data usage within the company.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work closely with data scientists, machine learning engineers, and other stakeholders to support their data infrastructure needs.
- Innovate and implement new features: Continuously improve the infrastructure by implementing advanced technologies and automation to enhance functionality and efficiency.
- Mentor and lead: Guide less experienced engineers through the complexities of large-scale system design and implementation.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on data infrastructure.
- Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages like Python and Scala.
- Expertise in SQL languages such as BigQuery, SparkSQL, or PostgreSQL.
- Experience with cloud services, terraform, airflow, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
