Job Summary
As a Software Engineer II at Honeywell, you will be responsible for a variety of intermediate-level software engineering tasks under moderate supervision. You will utilize your broad knowledge of software engineering disciplines, processes, and tools to complete various project subtasks. You will interact with internal customers and team members to facilitate the completion of products to customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Software Design and Development: Perform software design, coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting throughout the application development process.
- Project Execution: Apply standard software engineering disciplines, processes, and tools to complete projects.
- Customer Interaction: Interact with customers in all phases of software development to ensure requirements are met.
- System Analysis: Analyze existing information systems and applications to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for improvements.
- Collaboration: Develop software development skills in a collaborative/team environment.
- Documentation and Testing: Generate software documentation and perform requirements-based verification and validation testing of software.
- Application Specifications: Develop application specifications, conversion, and migration designs; support maintenance of applications as needed.
- Standards Compliance: Conform to established systems development life cycle, computing standards, and guidelines.
- Evaluation and Selection: Assist in the evaluation and selection process for new application packages as needed.
- Development Guidelines: Assist in defining development guidelines and standards to be utilized in software development/integration.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other equivalent ABET accredited Engineering program.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in software engineering.
- Travel: Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
- Workplace Flexibility: Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management.
- Citizenship: United States Citizenship is required.
- Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for the position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineering Knowledge: Some positions may require unique engineering knowledge or coursework related to Electrical Engineering.
- Automated Testing: Experience with designing and implementing automated software testing.
- Six Sigma: Familiarity with Six Sigma tools and methodology; Six Sigma certification preferred.
