Tech Lead, Product Security Engineering

Job Overview

As a Tech Lead in Product Security Engineering at Google Cloud, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the security of Google Cloud products. You will be responsible for leading security initiatives, collaborating with various teams, and driving the product security strategy for Google Cloud. This role requires a deep understanding of security engineering, risk analysis, and the ability to lead complex, cross-functional security efforts.

Responsibilities

• Act as an executive technical leader for product security across Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Technical Infrastructure (TI).
• Own and drive product and infrastructure security initiatives in Cloud, collaborating closely with the broader Google Security community.
• Lead large, technically complex, cross-functional, multi-quarter, and multi-year security efforts to engineer away common risks and vulnerability classes.
• Work closely with tech leads and executive leadership to review technical designs and architectural improvements, considering engineering tradeoffs between security, reliability, and performance at Google scale.
• Leverage deep technical industry expertise to determine innovative security infrastructure improvements at Google scale.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of experience with security assessments, security design reviews, or threat modeling.
• 10 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security, and security protocols.
• 10 years of coding experience in one or more general-purpose languages.
• 10 years of experience leading teams in a technical capacity or leading technical risk analysis in an enterprise environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with open source security.
• Experience with low-level security.
• Understanding of cloud technologies and risk landscapes, including artificial intelligence, privacy, and security.

About the Team

The Product Security Engineering (PSE) team is responsible for ensuring that every Google Cloud product is as secure as possible. We work to increase the assurance levels of security in the infrastructure underlying all our products and enhance the capabilities of each product team to develop more secure products by design and by default. PSE owns and drives the product security strategy for Google Cloud, working with almost every aspect of Google’s infrastructure to solve planet-scale infrastructure security problems with societal-level impacts.

Salary and Benefits

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $237,000-$337,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
