The Role
As an AI Research Engineer in Automation and Control at Helsing, you will be part of a team that delivers AI-based capabilities to assist human decision-making. You will have the opportunity to shape AI capabilities in a challenging sector, where high generalisation capabilities need to be paired with hardware constraints and robustness against adversarial attacks.
Responsibilities
- Develop and extend state-of-the-art automation and control technologies.
- Apply and deploy these technologies in real-world scenarios.
- Understand and interface with AI systems, evaluating how controllers interact with them in practice.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to contribute to various projects.
Requirements
- MSc in automation and control, machine learning, robotics, or a related field.
- Experience in conceptualising, implementing, and evaluating advanced AI-based systems.
- Excellent communication skills for reporting and presenting research findings.
- Passion for staying updated with current research and extending state-of-the-art deep learning approaches.
- Solid software engineering skills, with proficiency in Python and/or languages like Rust, Java, or modern C++.
- Experience deploying AI software to production, including testing, QA, and monitoring.
Nice to Have
- PhD in a related field with publications in top-tier journals and conferences.
- Experience with control algorithms for robots and autonomous vehicles.
