Amazon AI is seeking an Applied Scientist to join our science team in the area of Natural Language Processing and Health AI. Our organization is responsible for developing the science that powers AWS's cloud-based AI services. Our mission is to empower every developer with the capabilities of AI, advancing the state of the art in machine learning to create services that delight our customers and meet real-world business needs.

Key Responsibilities

As an Applied Scientist, you will:

• Collaborate with talented scientists and engineers to design, train, test, and deploy machine learning models.
• Contribute to innovative features and improve our services based on customer requirements.
• Maintain a highly scalable data and model management infrastructure that supports cutting-edge research.
• Translate business and engineering requirements into deliverables and software products.

Qualifications

• Basic Qualifications

  • PhD, or Master's degree with 4+ years of experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience building models for business applications.
  • Experience with patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, or Python.
  • Experience in algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, and high-performance computing.

• Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Unix/Linux.
  • Experience in professional software development.

AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
