About the Role

As an Applied Scientist on the Alexa News team, you will play a pivotal role in crafting immersive news experiences across various devices. Your contributions will directly impact millions of users worldwide, from delivering up-to-the-minute updates to providing in-depth analysis on specific topics.

Key Responsibilities

• Innovative Projects: Work on fast-paced, challenging, and varied projects. Experiment with new possibilities, take risks, and collaborate with remarkable people.
• Generative AI Content Curation: Help build a team specialized in generative AI content curation, forecasting, and recommendations.
• Machine Learning Expertise: Apply your deep knowledge of machine learning to solve concrete problems with broad cross-organizational, global, and technology impact.
• Data Management: Retrieve, cleanse, and prepare large-scale datasets, train and evaluate models, and deploy them for customers.
• Collaboration: Work with internal and external stakeholders, cross-functional partners, and end-users around the world at all levels.

Qualifications

• Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience building models for business applications.
  • PhD or Master's degree in CS, CE, ML, or related field.
  • Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, or Python.
  • Experience in algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing.

• Preferred Qualifications:

  • Publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
  • Experience with popular deep learning frameworks such as MXNet and TensorFlow.

Compensation

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $222,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
