Join SumUp as a Senior Backend Engineer (Elixir & Go)
SumUp is seeking a talented Senior Backend Engineer to join our Global Bank tribe. In this role, you will be instrumental in building SumUp's digital merchant bank, working on a high-throughput platform that handles money movement through various payment systems such as SEPA, BACS, Pix, Mastercard, and Apple/Google Pay.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with software developers, QAs, DevOps engineers, designers, and product managers to design and implement backend services and APIs.
- Work in a global context with teams across Europe, the US, and Latin America.
- Provide comprehensive documentation and ensure high test coverage.
- Participate in the selection of new tools, technologies, and processes.
- Engage in code reviews and pair programming.
- Deliver business value by making informed decisions related to the backend.
- Build capabilities that bring value to millions of users worldwide.
- Continuously adopt and actualize best practices with the team.
What We Are Looking For
- Professional experience as an Elixir Engineer.
- Strong experience in software architecture and application design.
- Comfortable working with SQL databases.
- Good understanding of modern cloud technologies (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with CI/CD products such as GitHub Actions and ArgoCD.
- Experience with event/messaging platforms such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Solid debugging, optimization, and problem-solving skills.
- Passion for mentoring and sharing knowledge.
- Ability to write clear, concise, and testable code.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Honeycomb.
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.
- Experience in the fintech industry.
