Senior Backend Engineer (Elixir)

About the Role

Remote is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with expertise in Elixir to join our dynamic engineering team. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be part of a team of 280 engineers working across various domains including Frontend, Backend, SRE, and QA. Our teams are cross-functional and focus on specific verticals, allowing for deep specialization and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development of major projects within your team and participate in cross-team initiatives.
Actively engage in product development, providing feedback and suggesting solutions to complex problems.
Maintain a strong understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
Provide feedback on code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
Debug and resolve technical and business issues.
Participate in non-team activities such as support rotations, hiring processes, and RFC discussions.
Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
Design and implement APIs with a focus on performance, scalability, and maintainability.

What You Bring

Significant experience as a Backend Engineer with Elixir, including building, shipping, and maintaining complex software projects.
Proficiency with PostgreSQL or similar databases.
Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or Jenkins.
Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, and frontend frameworks like Next.js, React, or Angular is a plus.
