Role Overview

As a Senior Backend Engineer (Golang) in the Online Payments Tribe, you’ll be part of the team supporting SumUp’s Business growth by providing a scalable, secure and global Online Payments Platform which will facilitate all Card not Present (CNP) transactions - meeting the Online Payments needs of our customers and enabling them to grow.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Implement Backend Services: Create and maintain backend services that are scalable and secure.
• API Design and Implementation: Work on both internal APIs and those exposed to our third-party integrators.
• Collaborate and Innovate: Work closely with other engineers and DevOps teams to ensure smooth deployment and integration.
• Documentation and Code Quality: Provide comprehensive documentation, ensure good test coverage, and improve code quality.

What We Are Looking For

• Experience: 5+ years as a backend engineer with a strong focus on Golang.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, and Postgres. Experience with IaaC and messaging systems.
• System Architecture: Solid understanding of system architecture, design principles, data modelling, and API design.
• Plus Points: Experience with distributed and fault-tolerant systems and DynamoDB.
