About The Team
The Data Experience team is a tightly knit group within the Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology (DE&E Technology) Data department. We focus on building cutting-edge applications, reducing redundancy, and providing end-to-end solutions that optimize our business processes. Our work often involves full-stack application development, platform connectivity, BI tools, and big-data visualizations.
Your Role
As a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer, you will use your skills and experience in full-stack development to join a fun team of technically capable individuals that pride themselves on delivering the highest quality product. Most of our applications are written in a NodeJS/Typescript/React stack, but we cover many languages and frameworks with our breadth of experience. In this role, you will focus on our Near-Real-Time reporting and visualizations platform. The work is fun and challenging, and we are often asked to break new ground in terms of user experience and application functionality.
What You'll Do
- Full-stack application development using Node and React Typescript stack.
- Creation, maintenance, and support of a Near-Real-Time reporting and visualization platform from API-layer outward in a high data volume environment.
- Collaborate on architectural designs and help plan for maintainability, observability, and future development concerns.
- Ensure high operational efficiency and quality of your solutions to meet SLAs and support commitment to our customers.
- Be an active participant and advocate of agile/scrum practice to ensure health and process improvements for your team.
- Review teammate’s code and pull requests for overall quality, standards alignment, and test coverage.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience with full-stack application development including NodeJS and React in JavaScript / Typescript.
- 5+ years of experience with high-test coverage delivery using unit- and front-end-test frameworks.
- 3+ years of experience implementing visualization libraries (D3, for example).
- Experience with application builds in an infrastructure-as-code system (Terraform, Kubernetes, Cloud Formation, etc.).
- Experience with development in a CI/CD/CT environment using Jenkins or equivalent.
- Experience with performance tuning for large-data-set front-end / visualizations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with large-scale data libraries such as Druid.
- Experience with Kafka, Amazon SQS, or Kinesis.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Spinnaker, and continuous integration/delivery systems.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering or comparable field of study.
Additional Information
The hiring range for this position in Santa Monica, California is $136,100 to $199,800 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
