Job Overview
Join The Walt Disney Company as a Software Engineer II, where you will be part of the Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology team. This role is based in Santa Monica, California, and involves designing and implementing tier-1 microservices in Java, working on asynchronous processes in the cloud, and participating in architecture and code reviews.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Implement Microservices: Develop tier-1 microservices using Java, ensuring high-quality and robust architecture.
- Cloud-Based Processes: Implement asynchronous processes for data transformation operations in the cloud.
- Technical Design and Reviews: Engage in tech design for various projects, participate in code and architecture reviews.
- Agile Methodology: Actively participate in Agile and SCRUM processes, including Sprint Planning, Backlog Grooming, Daily Standups, and Retrospectives.
- On-Call Support: Provide on-call support for critical services on a rotational basis.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicate and collaborate with multi-functional business partners.
- Continuous Learning: Ramp up on new domains and technologies as required.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in backend services development.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Java and at least one other object-oriented language, experience with cloud providers, and familiarity with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Problem Solving: Proven track record of driving consensus on backend development and taking ownership of feature development.

Compensation
The salary range for this position in Santa Monica, CA is €112,600 - €151,000 per year. Additional compensation may include a bonus and/or long-term incentive units, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
