Figma is on a mission to make design accessible to all, and we're looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer to join our AI Product team. As part of our team, you'll be at the forefront of AI experience engineering, working closely with our cutting-edge AI Research team to push the boundaries of what's possible in design.

What You'll Do

• Lead AI System Development: Spearhead the development of early-phase AI systems to enhance user experience and develop systems to measure and improve AI performance and relevance.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work with cross-functional teams of innovative software engineers, product managers, and data scientists to direct the future of AI at Figma.
• Solve Complex Problems: Break down open-ended AI problems into engineering strategies utilizing machine learning, data analysis, and experimental design.
• Mentorship and Best Practices: Provide mentorship and promote best practices in data and AI while cultivating a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
• Recruit and Grow Talent: Contribute to the growth of the team by improving the hiring process and recruiting outstanding AI talent.

What We're Looking For

• Experience: 5+ years of experience, with at least 1 year in developing generative AI products.
• Prototyping Skills: Comfort in prototyping and pathfinding new opportunities that lead to successful 0→1 projects.
• Lifecycle Management: Proven experience implementing the full lifecycle of an early-phase AI development, from ideation to production and maintenance.
• Business Acumen: Ability to develop deep product and business knowledge to connect abstract modeling and analysis tasks with business value.
• Growth Mindset: Experience investing in the learning, development, belonging, and impact of your peers, such as mentoring senior engineers across organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in AI indexing, retrieval systems, personalization, and/or natural language processing.
• Proven track record of planning a multi-year roadmap in which shorter-term projects ladder up to the long-term vision.
• Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, or a related field.

Pay Transparency

For roles based in Figma’s San Francisco or New York hub offices, the annual base salary range is $149,000—$350,000 USD. Compensation is based on individual qualifications, market demands, and specific work location.
