The Role
Flex is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend to join our dynamic engineering team. This role is pivotal in developing and maintaining our innovative finance platform designed for business owners. As a senior member of the team, you will have the opportunity to work across the entire stack, with a particular focus on backend development.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to build new features and products.
- Play a critical role in the development, design, and maintenance of Flex's platform and services.
- Architect well-thought-out services and data models to ensure Flex's continued growth.
- Own problems end-to-end, considering aspects like API contracts, data, scalability, security, observability, and metrics.
- Lead by example and mentor engineers in all aspects of planning, development, and testing.
What You Need
- Proficiency in NodeJS and server design principles.
- An understanding of architectural patterns for highly available, scalable, low-latency, asynchronous systems.
- Familiarity with software engineering development cycles.
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide in-depth evaluation of multiple technical directions and determine tradeoffs of each.
- Experience with cloud-based providers like Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure.
- Four or more years of relevant industry experience with a track record of shipping high-quality products and features at scale.
