Job Overview

As a Business Data Scientist at Google, you will be a key player in the gTech Ads team, focusing on data analytics, experimentation, and machine learning to support global marketing programs. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop metrics, generate insights, and design analysis pipelines that support marketing campaigns at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with large, complex data sets and apply advanced analytical methods, including statistical and machine learning models.
  • Conduct analysis that includes problem formulation, data gathering, processing, and presentation of findings.
  • Design and analyze controlled experiments or causal inference studies to assess the impact of Ads marketing programs.
  • Build and prototype analysis pipelines iteratively to provide insights at scale.
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of Google data structures and metrics, advocating for changes where needed.
  • Interact cross-functionally, making business recommendations with effective presentations of findings through visual displays of quantitative information.
  • Develop and automate reports, iteratively build and prototype dashboards to provide insights at scale.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Bioinformatics, Economics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in a data science field.
  • Experience with statistical software (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB) and database languages (e.g., SQL).
  • Experience leveraging data insights into storytelling for business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Statistics or a related quantitative discipline.
  • 5 years of experience in statistical data analysis, including generalized linear models, multivariate analysis, clustering, or segmentation.
  • Experience with machine learning on computing systems such as Hadoop or MapReduce.
  • Experience in controlled experiment design and causal inference methods.
  • Ability to prioritize requests, teach others, and communicate analysis insights to non-technical audiences.

Salary and Benefits

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $150,000-$223,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
