LightBox is seeking a talented and motivated Data Platform Software Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team in Irvine, California. As a leading provider of data and workflow solutions across commercial real estate and location intelligence, LightBox empowers decision-makers with authoritative data, integrated workflows, and unmatched industry connections.
About the Role
As a Data Platform Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions that anticipate changing business needs. You will work on all parts of the stack, including frontend, backend, infrastructure, and even machine learning. You will take pride in owning your features end-to-end, from design to productionization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend web applications using frameworks such as FastAPI, Play, Spring, and Flask.
- Implement frontend web application frameworks like Angular, React, or Vue.
- Utilize typed backend languages such as Java or Scala.
- Employ version control systems like Git, GitLab, or SVN.
- Write scripts in languages such as Python, TypeScript, or JavaScript.
- Work with cloud infrastructure and services, including AWS, Google Compute, or Microsoft Azure.
- Integrate OCR services like Amazon Textract or Google Vision.
- Develop PDF file or form view/review applications.
- Use Docker for containerization and orchestration.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms.
- Experience with multi-threaded and asynchronous paradigms.
- Proficiency in backend and frontend web application frameworks.
- Familiarity with cloud services and infrastructure.
Desired Skills
- Experience with OCR services and PDF file applications.
- Knowledge of Docker and container orchestration.
Qualifications
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years of industry experience if no degree.
