Role Overview
As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Extend, you will be the primary interface between our customers and our technical team, playing a crucial role in the deployment and integration of AI solutions within client environments. This position requires a deep understanding of both technical and business aspects, ensuring that our AI solutions are seamlessly integrated and fully functional within the client's operations.
Responsibilities
- Customer Interaction: Build genuine relationships with end users, often being on a first-name basis and having the ability to travel onsite as needed.
- Problem Solving: Address complex problems related to AI deployment, such as gaining enterprise confidence, handling edge cases in data, and enabling non-technical experts to train AI agents.
- Strategy Development: Write and continually update the playbook on customer interaction and feedback incorporation, ensuring best practices across the team.
- Ownership and Leadership: Take complete ownership of your tasks and projects, working closely with the CEO, CTO, and other founding members. As a founding team member, you will have significant influence over the direction of customer success strategies.
Key Challenges
- AI Integration: Ensuring successful deployment of AI agents into production, addressing unique challenges that come with it.
- Customer Education: Helping customers understand the trade-offs between latency, cost, and performance to make informed decisions.
- Internal Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to understand and solve other departments' unstructured data problems, naturally growing Extend's influence within an organization.
