Job Overview
As a Full-stack Developer at Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek, you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for developing and enhancing smartphone applications. These apps are designed to utilize sensor data (such as GPS, accelerometer, WiFi, and camera) to create reliable statistics. Protecting confidentiality and privacy is a crucial aspect of this role, alongside the technical challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and improve new functionalities for our apps.
- Engage in strategic thinking and advising on the use of apps and sensors.
- Design, build, and test custom apps for various devices.
- Contribute to improving work methodologies and experimenting with new technologies in algorithms and machine learning.
Team Environment
You will join a newly established DevOps app development team, initially consisting of three members, operating like an internal innovation start-up. This team collaborates closely with scientific researchers and colleagues who design and develop questionnaires.
Location
The position is based in The Hague or Heerlen, with a hybrid work model that includes flexibility for travel to other locations as needed.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a communicative, proactive team player who can identify and act on opportunities. The ideal candidate will have:
- HBO work and thinking level.
- At least 2 years of experience in programming front-end applications on smartphones (iOS and/or Android) using Dart/Flutter.
- Experience in back-end development with the .NET framework and knowledge of databases like PostgreSQL and MSSQL.
- Familiarity with utilizing smartphone sensors and managing apps running in the background.
- Experience with UX/UI design and input.
- Knowledge of Machine Learning methods and text recognition algorithms is a plus.
- Experience with Kubernetes, CI/CD, DevOps, and Python is a plus.
What We Offer
- A salary ranging from EUR 4024 to EUR 6110 per month based on a 36-hour workweek, depending on experience.
- An Individual Choice Budget (IKB) of 16.5% on top of your salary.

- Hybrid working model with a guideline of at least 2 days per week in the office.
