About the Role

Airbus Defence and Space is seeking a motivated and dynamic intern to join our Data Engineering department. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work on the digitalization of satellite engineering processes. You will be involved in developing and deploying proprietary database systems, web applications, and integrated engineering solutions. Additionally, you will assist in data management, data governance, and data analysis for satellite projects, utilizing state-of-the-art software development techniques and modern AI technologies.

Responsibilities

Software Development

Support transnational digitalization initiatives and contribute to the design and development of data engineering software products.
Capture and analyze use cases and needs of system engineering teams to derive requirements for data engineering solutions.
Document complex engineering workflows and define software solutions to improve the spacecraft development lifecycle.
Support validation of specified solutions and assist users during the user-process definition and commissioning phase.
Evaluate and integrate new technologies.

Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence

Support data engineers and scientists in designing and developing AI and ML software products and studies.
Manipulate large datasets and design algorithms using existing software packages (e.g., Python libraries).
Develop new models or improve existing models using machine/deep learning techniques.
Compare AI-based approaches with classical methods and interpret results.
Document findings and establish best practices for data collection, preparation, analysis, and modeling.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

Enrolled full-time student in Aerospace Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience with Python programming for data science.
Knowledge of programming languages such as Java and Typescript.
Familiarity with web development (e.g., Angular) and cloud technologies (e.g., AWS).
Proficiency in Google Workspace and Atlassian Apps.
Fluent in English or German.
Autonomous work style and eagerness to learn.
Excellent communication skills and a good team player.
