SpaceX is seeking extraordinary students to join our software engineering teams for the Spring 2025 internship/co-op program. As a software intern, you will have the opportunity to work closely with your mentor and other employees, applying your knowledge and growing your skills on impactful projects. This role is perfect for students who have demonstrated a commitment to academic success and are motivated to apply their knowledge outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with software engineering teams across various locations, including Bastrop, TX; Brownsville, TX; Cape Canaveral, FL; Hawthorne, CA; Irvine, CA; McGregor, TX; Redmond, WA; and Sunnyvale, CA.
• Develop, analyze, and verify mission-critical software for SpaceX's Dragon, Falcon, Starlink, Starshield, and Starship programs.
• Engage in software coding, documentation, and requirements gathering.
• Participate in debugging, performance optimization, and unit testing.
• Work independently and in teams, taking initiative and communicating effectively.

Basic Qualifications

• Enrollment in a bachelor’s or graduate program by the start of employment.
• 3+ months of software programming or development experience.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Must meet U.S. Government export regulations (U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).

Preferred Skills and Experience

• GPA of 3.5 or above.
• 6+ months of experience developing and deploying software for real-world applications.
• Strong knowledge of computer architecture and networks.
• Experience with software documentation and system diagrams.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in dynamic environments.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to work full-time, on-site for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks starting in January or March 2025.
• Must provide own transportation for certain locations.

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay ranges from $30.00 to $40.00 per hour, depending on academic level.

• Application Software: Develops systems for rapid build and reuse of Starship and manufacturing software for Starlink.
• Dragon Software: Ensures mission-critical software configurations for Dragon vehicles.
• Falcon Software: Develops software for Falcon and Falcon Heavy launch vehicles.
• Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC): Develops GNC algorithms and tools for various SpaceX programs.
• Product Security: Secures Starlink software and hardware.
• Silicon Engineering: Designs and qualifies semiconductor solutions.
• Starlink Software: Solves challenges for SpaceX’s satellite internet project.
• Starshield Software: Builds in-space mesh networks and secure systems.
• Starship Software: Develops control systems and operational software for Starship.
