iOS Software Development Engineer in Test (Remote)

CrowdStrike

About The Role

CrowdStrike is hiring a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join the Mobile Team working on CrowdStrike Falcon for iOS, one of CrowdStrike's sensors that provides Mobile Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR). At CrowdStrike, SDETs work together with Software Development Engineers in a combined team, they are inquisitive individuals who enjoy the challenge of trying to discover product flaws and create a high-quality offering for our customers.

SDETs use their strong software development and problem-solving skills to build effective tools, harnesses, and specialized tests to ensure the product quality is exceptional. SDETs build CI / CD pipelines to harness the power of automation and are evangelists of tools that assess the quality of code statically and dynamically. SDETs also participate actively in design and code reviews, and collaborate with the backend and sensor teams to assure end-to-end system functionality.

About You

We are looking for somebody who is keen to develop the testing strategy for the new features coming to Falcon for iOS and use their experience to maintain and develop the existing test infrastructure and direct its future improvements. We look for somebody with hands-on SDET experience that majors in unit / integration / end-to-end test development, debugging and CI / CD pipeline creation.

The Falcon codebase is high-quality Swift code mixed with some mid to low-level technologies such as TCP/IP, DNS, ARM assembly, etc. which means the ideal candidate would relish the challenge of understanding something complex and apply their intuition to think laterally, develop suitable tests and discover flaws.

Ideally the candidate would have hands-on experience with Xcode, XCTest, Instruments and a CI/CD technology. However, we would encourage experienced SDETs without platform specific tooling / knowledge to consider the position if they have the inclination to quickly up-skill and would see themselves as a good fit with other aspects of the job description.

This is a remote-friendly position. Even if you decide to work in one of our offices, we are located across the globe. We therefore expect you to be comfortable working in distributed teams, and to have excellent communication skills.

About The Product

CrowdStrike Falcon Host is a two-component security product.

One component is a “sensor”, installed on client devices that observes system activity and recognizes malicious behavior, then provides on-box prevention capability and remote telemetry to the Falcon Host cloud. The sensor processes thousands of events per second to provide deep visibility into operations on the endpoint, and performs rich correlation and computation to identify malicious events and blocks malicious activity.

The cloud component aggregates sensor telemetry for each customer’s network, correlates malicious behavior across multiple machines, and presents our customers’ operations teams with a prioritized summary of the threats detected in their environments.

What You'll Do

Maintenance and improvements of the mobile sensor testing strategy, developing unit tests, UI tests, and end-to-end testsMaintenance and improvements of the mobile sensor CI/CD pipelineBuild useful tools and frameworks for effective test development; the goal is to minimize manual testing and allow the team to write automated testsDevelop metrics and monitoring tools to assess the health of the product, and remediate issues when necessaryImproving the overall testing strategy for the mobile sensor to increase robustness and coverageIdentify and write specialized tests to assess performance, scalability, and limits of the mobile sensorDebug issues found through test or customer feedback to identify the root cause and use this knowledge to further improve testsWork with product and release management to control risk, improve quality, and streamline our release cyclesRigorous product and test code reviews with a focus on improving the security and robustness of the mobile sensor
