About the Role
This position is with Vectara's machine learning team. As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will be working on language understanding with deep neural methods. You will be part of a collaborative team setting, contributing to the development of advanced machine learning models and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement multimodal and multilingual models.
- Develop dual-encoder models, transformer-based rerankers, or LLMs for information retrieval.
- Utilize major deep learning toolkits like PyTorch or JAX.
- Design and develop online learning systems.
- Apply neural approaches to open domain QA and zero-shot IR.
- Work with both sparse and dense IR methods.
Ideal Candidate
- Passionate about language understanding and deep neural methods.
- Industry expertise or recent graduate studies in relevant fields.
- Experience with machine learning techniques, including deep learning.
- Familiarity with vector databases and performance measurement techniques is a plus.
Work Environment
While we support working from home, you should be open to the idea of working as a team in our office in Palo Alto, California three days a week. This hybrid work model allows for flexibility while fostering team collaboration.
