Meta is seeking a talented Research Engineer to join our Large Language Model (LLM) Research team. This role is pivotal in advancing the state-of-the-art in large language models, contributing to projects like our recent Llama 2. We are looking for engineers with a strong background in generative AI and natural language processing (NLP).

Responsibilities

• Design and Develop: Create methods, tools, and infrastructure to advance large language models.
• Research Goals: Define research objectives informed by practical engineering concerns.
• Experimentation: Design experimental details, write reusable code, run evaluations, and organize results.
• Adaptation: Modify standard machine learning methods to exploit modern parallel environments such as distributed clusters and GPUs.
• Collaboration: Work with a large, globally distributed team.
• Publication: Contribute to publications and open-source efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Research experience in machine learning, deep learning, and/or NLP.
• Experience in developing machine learning models at scale from inception to business impact.
• Programming experience in Python and hands-on experience with frameworks such as PyTorch.
• Exposure to architectural patterns of large-scale software applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in AI, computer science, data science, or related technical fields.
• Direct experience in generative AI and LLM research.
• First author publications at peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, and ACL).

Compensation

• Salary: $85.10/hour to $251,000/year
• Additional Compensation: Bonus, equity, and benefits
