Role Overview
As an Applied ML Engineer in the Speech department, you will be instrumental in developing phoneme recognition models to enhance pronunciation feedback for language learners. This role involves managing the entire modeling pipeline from training to deployment, ensuring the models perform optimally in diverse markets.
Responsibilities
- Model Development: Train and deploy phoneme recognition models, ensuring robust performance and retraining as necessary.
- Innovation: Work closely with Product teams to design learning experiences that integrate speech recognition technologies effectively.
- Performance Monitoring: Track metrics to assess the performance of phoneme models and make data-driven decisions for improvements.
- Data Management: Build and maintain audio data pipelines and manage datasets for training and evaluation.
- Team Collaboration: Support the broader Speech & ML team in developing and localizing ASR models and other speech-related technologies.
Candidate Profile
- Extensive experience in training and deploying deep learning models, preferably in audio/speech.
- Proficiency in Python and frameworks like PyTorch.
- Strong communication skills to articulate complex ML concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- A sharp product sense with a broad view of model quality in user experience contexts.
- 4-10 years of industry experience in a related field.
