About the Role

Scale AI is seeking a passionate and talented Machine Learning Research Engineer to join our team. This role is perfect for new graduates who are eager to dive into the world of AI and machine learning. You will be working on cutting-edge research problems and developing machine learning solutions that advance our mission to accelerate AI application development.

Key Responsibilities

• Research and Development: Engage in research to develop machine learning solutions that assist humans in the loop. You will work on systems that enhance the creation of high-quality ground truth data with speed and accuracy.
• Frontier Data Research: Explore frontier data and post-training methods to advance state-of-the-art large language models (LLMs) for our customers.
• Model Benchmarking: Work with public large language models to benchmark and create custom versions for internal use cases.
• Model Improvement: Take models currently in production, identify areas for improvement, and enhance them using retraining and hyperparameter searches.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with product and research teams to identify opportunities for improvement in our current product line and for enabling upcoming product lines.
• Data Handling: Work with massive datasets to develop both generic models and fine-tune models for specific products.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduating Fall of 2024 or Spring of 2025 with a PhD focusing on Machine Learning, Computer Science, Deep Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or Electronics Engineering.
• Experience: Previous internship experience in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or Computer Vision is ideal.
• Skills: Strong high-level programming skills (e.g., Python) and familiarity with at least one deep learning framework.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Publications: Publications in top-tier journals such as NeurIPS, ICLR, CVPR, AAAI, etc., or contributions to open-source projects are a plus.

Location

This position is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and offers a hybrid work environment, allowing for both on-site and remote work.

Salary

The base salary range for this full-time position is $180,000 to $210,000 USD annually, with potential equity compensation.
