About the Role

Join Scale AI as a Machine Learning Research Engineering Intern for Summer 2025. This role is perfect for those passionate about advancing AI applications and working on cutting-edge machine learning solutions. You will be part of a team focused on Generative AI, working with Large Language Models (LLMs), reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF), and synthetic data.

Responsibilities

• Research and Development: Develop machine learning solutions to assist humans in the loop and create high-quality ground truth data efficiently.
• Model Benchmarking: Work with public Large Language Models to benchmark and customize them for internal use cases.
• Model Improvement: Take state-of-the-art models, use them in production, identify areas for improvement, and enhance them through retraining and hyperparameter searches.
• Collaboration: Work closely with product and research teams to identify opportunities for improvement in current and upcoming product lines.
• Data Handling: Work with massive datasets to develop both generic models and fine-tune models for specific products.

Requirements

• Education: Currently enrolled in a PhD program focusing on Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or Computer Vision, with a graduation date in Fall 2025 or Spring 2026.
• Programming Skills: Experience with one or more general-purpose programming languages, including Python and JavaScript.
• Language Proficiency: Ability to speak and write in English fluently.
• Availability: Available for a Summer 2025 internship starting in May or June.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous internship experience in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or Computer Vision.
• Experience as a researcher, including internships, full-time positions, or lab work.
• Publications in top-tier journals such as NeurIPS, ICLR, CVPR, AAAI, or contributions to open-source projects.
