Senior Backend Developer with Java Expertise

Job Overview

IBM is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Backend Developer to join our team in Lowell, Massachusetts. This role is ideal for a professional who is passionate about learning and has a special interest in SQL/Query and/or MDX/XMLA/OLAP data sources. The successful candidate will be well-versed in agile methodologies and have experience delivering enterprise-scale products.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver new functionalities and maintain existing capabilities for IBM analytics products.
• Integrate applications with relational databases and/or OLAP data sources.
• Lead the development of features in a large matrix environment.
• Troubleshoot and solve customer issues on production deployments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality product delivery.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• 7+ years of software development experience in a professional environment.
• Proficiency in Java.
• Strong working knowledge of SQL and/or MDX/XMLA.
• Experience with relational databases, OLAP, and/or query planning.
• Exposure to agile development, continuous integration, and continuous development environments (CI/CD) with tools such as GitHub, JIRA, Jenkins, etc.
• Familiarity with tools like SSH clients and Docker.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience integrating Business Intelligence tools with SAP/BW, SAP/BW4HANA, and other OLAP technologies.
• Experience as a BI product developer.
• Experience defining SAP/BW and BW4HANA test assets to ensure high code coverage and tight integration.
• Experience with the full lifecycle of SAP/BW and BW4HANA assets, including cube upgrades and server support.
