Senior Java Developer

Introduction

As a Senior Java Developer at IBM, you will lead the company into the future by translating system requirements into the design and development of customized systems in an agile environment. Your Role and Responsibilities

The individual will be responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting Java based components and interfaces. This includes understanding various coding methodologies and tools and knowing when to apply each method to achieve the desired outcomes. The ideal candidate must display good written and oral skills with demonstrated interpersonal and organization abilities and must be able to work in a varied, fast-paced environment.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Over 4 years of experience developing Java / Java Enterprise solutions.
• Proficient in Java SE (Java 8+), with strong OOP principles.
• Advanced Java backend programming experience.
• At least 2 years of experience with Spring Framework, Quarkus, Micronaut or Jakarta EE.
• At least 2 years of experience with JPA-based frameworks (such as Hibernate or EclipseLink).
• Experience with modern Java build tools (Maven or Gradle).
• Experience with microservices / microservice architecture and technologies like Docker, Podman, and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with RESTful web services, API design, and OpenAPI specification.
• Knowledge of JSON, YAML, and XML formats.

Soft Skills

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate in a globally distributed team.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized.
• Adaptable and quick to learn new technologies.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Development Tools and Practices

• Experience with version control systems (preferably Git).
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and tools (Jira, Monday, or Trello).
• Experience with cloud platforms (IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).

Database Skills

• Understanding of database management systems, including relational databases.
• Intermediate to advanced SQL knowledge.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL, or Oracle.

Preferred Technical And Professional Expertise

• The ability to communicate in German is a major advantage.
• Knowledge of web development concepts, including HTTP, HTML, and CSS, JavaScript.
• Experience with modern front-end technologies (Angular, React, or Vue.js).
• Familiarity with Event-Driven Architecture and usage of Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ for messaging.
• Basic DevOps knowledge, including CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Travis CI, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Tekton).
