About The Role
As a Senior Backend Engineer at Hinge, you will be responsible for designing, building, operating, and maintaining the various cloud-based services that power our app. You will tackle complex technical challenges and own a significant portion of the software stack that enables millions of users to find meaningful connections. Your role will involve writing high-quality code, designing reliable systems, and participating in on-call rotations to ensure the smooth operation of the software you build.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build RESTful APIs for mobile clients.
- Participate in the backend on-call rotation (1 week every 8-11 weeks).
- Design and build microservices that run on Kubernetes.
- Develop distributed systems in Go, leveraging cloud infrastructure and platform service components.
- Own the technical design, implementation, and success of projects.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners, including Product, Data Science, ML, iOS, Android, and Data Engineering teams.
- Help foster a culture of collaboration and inclusivity.
- Cultivate a growth mindset and effectively manage personal workload, tasks, and meetings.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of industry experience as a backend/service engineer.
- 4+ years of experience working in a cloud environment such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
- Strong programming skills, with proficiency in Go and Python being a bonus.
- Deep understanding of distributed computing concepts, event-based architecture, and cloud design patterns.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical teammates.
- Proficiency with cloud technologies such as Kubernetes, OpenTelemetry, gRPC/Protobuf, Argo, and Kafka.
Compensation
- Salary Range: €177,500 - €213,000 per year
