About the Role
As a Software Engineer, Backend at Opto Investments, you will be responsible for transforming complex business problems into elegant and pragmatic engineering solutions. You will work in a context-driven, customer- and stakeholder-empathetic environment, building tools and systems that are end-to-end solutions. You will be part of a team that constantly challenges each other to evolve as builders and collaborators, all while having fun along the way.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality software projects in coordination with teammates and stakeholders on mutually agreed timelines.
- Rapidly iterate on solutions to eliminate ambiguity and drive projects forward.
- Participate actively in all phases of product development, including specification, implementation, QA testing, deployment, and operations.
- Foster a culture of collaboration by actively engaging in discussions, documentation, and code review.
- Participate actively in engineering recruiting, including interviewing and problem specification.
- Seek help when needed and reach out to stakeholders to unblock progress.
Qualifications
- A 4-year technical degree or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years of software development experience.
- Experience building scalable distributed systems.
- Experience interfacing with financial technology APIs and data providers.
- Experience designing and building REST APIs.
- Experience with domain and data modeling.
- Experience with the software development lifecycle, including CI/CD and Git.
- Experience with cloud computing architectures and tooling, particularly AWS.
- Experience using AI/LLMs for data extraction, data interrogation, and document generation.
- Demonstrated background or interest in investment management.
- Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to execute in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Excellent communication skills and grace under pressure.
Our Tech Stack
Our tech stack includes React-based Next.js Typescript applications hosted in Vercel, Aurora-backed Python REST API services hosted as containerized applications in AWS, AWS Lambda for asynchronous tasks, and Snowflake for data ingestion and warehousing. Our service deployments are fully automated and execute multiple times daily.
Compensation and Benefits
Opto Investments offers a generous compensation and benefits package. The cash salary range for this role is $125,000-$225,000, dependent on skills, experience, and expected contribution.
