About the Role
Join Hinge as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer and be part of the Dating Outcomes group, where we focus on ensuring users find their most compatible matches. We are building the foundations of an AI-first dating experience using cutting-edge technologies and Hinge’s extensive preference data. You will work on end-to-end recommendation systems, experiment with LLMs, and develop real-time predictive models impacting millions of users.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain foundational models, such as CLIP embeddings, to power our recommendation pipelines.
- Research and develop recommender models and experiment with the latest ML innovations, including LLM agents and transcription models.
- Design and implement systems for availability, scalability, and operational excellence while managing costs.
- Collaborate with ML Engineers, Data Scientists, and Product Managers to accelerate AI/ML development and deployment.
- Mentor and educate ML Engineers on current and emerging research, technologies, and best practices.
- Lead projects from conception to completion with measurable outcomes.
What We're Looking For
- Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or C++.
- Proven experience in system design and architecture, particularly in training and deploying large-scale ML models.
- Proficiency in cloud platforms like GCP, AWS, or Azure, and familiarity with ML serving solutions such as Ray, KubeFlow, or W&B.
- Deep understanding of DNN architectures and experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, and knowledge distillation.
- DevOps skills, including managing data and compute infrastructure with Kubernetes and Terraform.
- Experience in handling large datasets, data cleaning, preprocessing, and storage.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- 4+ years of experience as an MLE, with at least 2 years in a cloud environment and 1 year leading projects.
- A degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
