HackerRank is seeking a talented and motivated Software Development Engineer II to join our backend team. This is a full-time, remote position based in the United States. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality, scalable, and reliable backend applications and microservices.

Responsibilities

Evaluate Technologies: Research and develop proof of concepts (POCs) to solve technical challenges and propose innovative solutions.
Build Applications: Architect and develop applications and microservices using REST APIs, serverless, lambda, NodeJS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD automation.
Quality Assurance: Ensure high-quality product experiences by delivering well-tested and testable solutions.
Agile Development: Work in an agile environment, participate in code reviews, and collaborate with remote and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

Experience: At least 2+ years of experience in building web-based products using dynamic programming languages and MVC web frameworks, preferably Ruby on Rails or NodeJS.
Database Expertise: Strong skills in database modeling, preferably relational databases, and writing optimized queries.
Cloud Technologies: Proficiency in common cloud technologies, preferably AWS, and knowledge of CI/CD tools and workflows.
Distributed Systems: Proven track record in building highly-available and scalable distributed systems.
Innovation: Willingness to explore new technologies and become a Subject Matter Expert.
Coding Practices: A keen eye for quality and good coding practices, with a passion for refactoring and improving code coverage.

Nice to Have

Front-End Development: Experience with web front-end development, JavaScript, HTML, AJAX, and JSON.
React Components: Experience in building React components and integration.
