Overview
Join GitLab, the world's largest all-remote company, as a Senior Backend Engineer on the Gitaly Cluster team. This role is pivotal in developing and maintaining the Git data storage tier, ensuring high availability and performance across distributed systems.
What You Will Do
- Design and implement RPC interfaces for the Gitaly service.
- Scope, estimate, and describe tasks to achieve team goals.
- Develop and optimize Gitaly in line with product objectives.
- Monitor and profile Gitaly in production environments, creating dashboards and alerts.
- Conduct acceptance testing and peer reviews to ensure feature quality.
- Participate in architectural discussions to enhance system design and performance.
Who You Are
- Experienced in backend development, particularly in large-scale, high-volume environments.
- Proficient in Go, with a willingness to learn Ruby if necessary.
- Knowledgeable about git’s internal data structures or experience managing git servers.
- Skilled in writing and testing high-quality code and familiar with gRPC.
- Capable of running highly-available systems in production settings.
