Role Overview
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for building and scaling the backend for various user-facing features. You will lead architectural changes and infrastructure improvements to help GitBook scale in the coming years. This role involves building and scaling our public API and integrations platform, improving observability, monitoring, and alerting for our services, and mentoring a growing squad of backend engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and scale backend systems using TypeScript and Node.js.
- Lead the transition from Firebase to a more efficient backend infrastructure.
- Enhance our public API and integrations platform.
- Improve service observability, monitoring, and alerting.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers.
- Collaborate with product, design, and support teams to deliver value to users.

- Infrastructure: Cloudflare (Workers, WAF, CDN, SSL for SaaS), Google Cloud (Cloud Run, etc.)
