About the Role
As a Senior Backend Engineer at Venmo, you will be at the forefront of transforming global commerce. Key Responsibilities
- Architect and Design: Lead the development of complex backend systems, ensuring they are scalable and high-performance.

- Collaboration: Work closely with design, product, and QA teams to deliver world-class experiences.
What We Are Looking For
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience: Over 5 years of backend development experience, with a strong proficiency in Python.
- Technical Expertise: Extensive experience in architecting and developing large-scale backend systems using Python, Django, or Flask.
- API Development: Proven track record of designing, building, and maintaining complex RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams through complex technical challenges and design decisions.
- Distributed Systems: In-depth knowledge of distributed systems, cloud-native applications, and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Performance Optimization: Experience with large-scale data processing, caching strategies, and performance tuning.
Preferred Qualifications
- Agile Methodology: Experience with Agile development processes.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the payment processing industry and relevant regulations.
- Cloud Platforms: Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Open Source: Contributions to open-source projects are a plus.
Work Environment
Venmo offers a balanced hybrid work model, with 3 days in the office for effective in-person collaboration and 2 days at your choice of either the office or your home workspace.
