We are seeking experienced Senior and Staff level Software Engineers to join our dynamic engineering team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere within the United States. Close is a bootstrapped, profitable, 100% remote company with a team of around 90 individuals who value autonomy and impact. We are dedicated to creating a CRM that enhances communication without the hassle of manual data entry or complex UI. Our mission is to double the productivity of every sales representative.

Our Tech Stack

Our backend technology stack primarily consists of Python Flask web applications. We utilize TaskTiger for backend asynchronous task processing. Our data stores include MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, and Redis. Our infrastructure is hosted on AWS, using services like EKS, MSK, RDS, and ElasticCache, along with EC2 instances. We employ CI/CD pipelines to build Docker images, run automated tests, and deploy to Kubernetes clusters. Our backend serves a well-documented public API consumed by our front-end JavaScript app. We heavily automate our infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible, and other AWS tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and scale major systems and user-facing features.
• Collaborate with a small, talented team in a fast-paced environment.
• Manage your time effectively and communicate efficiently in a fully distributed team.
• Participate in code reviews and provide suggestions to maintain code quality.
• Contribute to the craftsmanship of the code and systems you produce.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in building modern backend systems for Senior/Staff level candidates.
• Proficiency in Python is preferred, but experience in other languages is acceptable if you are willing to work with Python.
• Hands-on production experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, or similar data stores.
• Experience in designing, scaling, debugging, and optimizing systems for speed and reliability.
• Located in the USA.

Bonus Points

• Contributions to open source projects related to our tech stack.
• Experience leading small project teams.
• Experience building B2B SaaS products.
• Familiarity with complex architectures supporting multiple APIs (e.g., REST, GQL, WebSockets) and async task/event processing frameworks.
